This homeowner boasts a bright and colorful personality and this certainly translated into her new spaces! A long wall was removed from the swathe now shown as a beam, transferring natural light deep into the main floor and connecting the kitchen to the dining area and new coffee bar. The house turns a 30 degree angle so we followed the contour with cabinetry, upper shelving and the island creating a striking chevron shape for the kitchen. A fun dalliance with scale transpires with jazzy and oversized island pendants.
Of Note — The gregarious homeowner is surprisingly reticent when in cooking mode, preferring to concentrate rather than socialize...so we placed the large range against the wall. But I wished for her to be faced with something more exciting than wall and cabinetry. Thus the range was flanked by luminous windows, creating a pleasing environment in that vicinity. We then tacked on bonus storage opportunity with shelving across these new windows, imparting a pleasing dappling effect.
