Millbert Drive

ABOUT THe project

This wonderful client is a high-end contractor who finally built his own family home. Starting with a small existing house on a deep lot, he worked with his architect to add substantial living space while keeping the front facade charmingly humble.

We joined the project late and handled the space planning for the public areas, designing the full kitchen layout and custom cabinetry along with the dining hutch and entry wardrobe.

A fun hidden cabinet door to the right of the refrigerator cleverly conceals a hallway leading to the powder room, pantry, and swimming pool access. The bright breakfast nook enjoys wonderful natural light and views throughout the day and into dusk, while a cozy window seat beside the grand player piano offers a serene spot for reading or simply gazing outdoors.

The result is a supremely serene domain perfectly suited for these fantastic clients.

Of Note — We intentionally designed both the dining hutch and entry wardrobe as free-standing furniture pieces rather than built-ins. Designers and homeowners often default to everything being fully integrated, but not everything needs to be. These freestanding elements bring a more classic, relaxed, and pastoral feel to the home, beautifully tempering the formality present throughout the spaces.
