Northcrest Drive

ABOUT THe project

A mid-century hillside home flaunting panoramic views of the valley necessitated an oversize picture window.  Why not slice carrots in natural light rather than beneath a wall of cabinetry, for heck's sake?  Social cooking on an island enveloped by a custom rose-tinged stain on walnut mingled with white glossy lacquer sounded heavenly to this client and POOF...done.

Of Note — In light of the natural utilization of kitchens today, as the social & project hub, we receive regular requests for a successful office setup within this zone.  The norm has been to simply toss a built-in desk across the way facing a wall.  Hmm...this is a prime example of theory overwriting reality.  It turns out that no one uses these poorly positioned desks.  Why?  Well, everything cool is always happening behind...and facing a wall feels as though one is in trouble and told to face the corner.  Not a scenario suited for an effective work session.  So we place these vital stations where one will be motivated and enlivened within a pleasing climate!
