ABOUT THe project

First off, Angus is the handsome, genteel Great Dane cruising about in these photos.  There were, initially, lots of doorways entering into this kitchen space, which inevitably yields multiple short, fractured project zones...meaning frustrating, disconnected and uninspired culinary pursuits!  A few angled/chevron walls amplified the distress.  But we developed the most distant section (aka: the back forty) into a commodious tall pantry.  Then designed a double "L" layout with a hyper-functional peninsula jutting through the broad doorway leading to a dining area.  This ranch domicile sports expansive views of high-desert foothills behind...so we figured, 'hey...let's maximize this scene!' with the gas range directly fronting the new, wider fenestration...eliciting the sensation of grilling outdoors!

Of Note — Nearly every time designers will simply stop cabinetry at the point where a wall angles away...this tosses aside the magnanimous elongation of workspace available when continuing around the corner.  In this case we were able to wrangle an extra 3.5 feet of counter frontage, creating a striking chevron with open shelving to boot.
